Can someone explain why some companies do not allow doubling on their grocery coupons?

Some stores have double coupons and triple coupons but I’ve noticed that some companies write on their coupons do not double.
For instance I have a coupon for 55cents off Finlandia Cheese over 6 ounces but it says “Do Not Double” but I wonder why since I would assume the second 55cents off in the doubling of the coupon is not their responsibility to pay the Grocery store back.
(Are they just being mean?)
