Do you feed Bil Jac pet food?
nokhada5 asked:
I just started feeding Bil Jac large breed puppy to my GSD. My vet wanted him on puppy until he was 18 months old, so I asked him about several different brands and he said they all were good. I went with Bil Jac because they gave me a coupon for the first bag.
If you feed it do you like it? What don’t you like about it if you don’t feed it? Please disregard price – I want to know about the quality of the food, not how it compares price wise.
Where is your refrence for Bil Jac feed to be recalled? I can’t find any reference to Bil Jac food canned or kibble that was recalled. Their website even states that their food is NOT recalled.

I haven’t heard anything negative about it, to be honest. But working in a pet store most people did not buy it. Those that did usually had older dogs and they’d had them on it forever, it is a company that has been around for quite a while.
BUT, they do us a lot of animal by-products in their foods, which is why I never encouraged people to purchase it.
What I DID encourage, and what I feed all of my animals, is Nutro. My dogs get Natural Choice Dog Food, and only the dry food. Nutro makes adult and puppy formulas and I’ve never had ANY problems with it, plus all three of my dogs love it and my cats love their kibble too.
They WERE on the recalled petfood list, though. None of their dry foods were, mind you, but since a lot of people get all uppity about types of foods since the recall, I figured I’d throw that in there. Their canned/packaged foods were recalled, though so were many, many other foods.
Good luck.
Edit;
NUTRO was on the recall. Not Bil Jac. But only Nutro’s wet foods were, which you really shouldn’t feed pets anyway.
Bil-Jac’s by-products are all made in-house, which means that the by-products aren’t out-sourced and Bil-Jac knows exactly what is in their by-products. They make their by-products with organ meats, an excellent source of protein. If your dog was in the wild, be wouldn’t pick around the animal he caught, he would eat it all. Also, Bil-Jac’s food is made up of more than 50% fresh chicken that is brought in fresh to their plant EVERY day. Plus all of Bil-Jac’s ingredients are from the USA! No China! Bil-Jac has a wonderful website with lots of information.
Bil Jac is a great product. However, Nutro is a higher quality product for pets. If there is a specific issue with your pet you need to go with what your vet recommends. I recommend Nutro’s lamb and rice formula as it is the greatest dog food seller in the industry.
i fed bil jac for several years and was happy with it. you have less fillers in the food and you therefore have less poop.
it was convenient to keep in the frig.
Love Bil-Jac dry dog food. We had always used Nutro before we tried Bil-jac. We have to Siberians and a Pitt But no small dogs in this house and my male siberian is 90 pounds and the Pitt is 106. The Siberians came from rsecue on Nutro but we got samples of Bil-jac to try at the pet store. They love it, they eat it with out adding anything to it, just straight kibble, they now can all eat the same kind no problems, no stomach issues that they have had in the past. A great dog food good quality, just wish that they made bigger than a 30 lb bag, and that there were more coupons out there as 30 lbs is approx 10 days worth.
