can a store get you into trouble for using extra coupons?

printable store coupons
chuki asked:

I used a few printable coupons in a big store (later I checked and only one was allowed per customer), and the manager said that he can get an LP, that I shouldnt have used more coupons. What did he mean by this? Can he get me into legal trouble?

I really don;t think they can get you in to any legal trouble. And your allowed on coupon per item.

If they accepted the coupon then none of that matters.

No, Not unless you committed fraud. The coupons say one per customer, so a agreement (read:contract) between you and the store, manufacture and the store, whatever. If they fail to enforce a provision of the agreement, then it’s their fault. They are the gatekeepers of that provision, not you. If they wanted to sue you for breach of contract, they could (They never would), but they would loose and it would not be worth it. But there are no criminal laws that deal with coupons, except fraud. I dont know what LP means. dude was just trying to intimidate you.

No idea what LP is but absolute worst case scenario is that you would be banned from the store, and most likely just that location – not the whole chain.

Store managers tend to like to act like they have more power than they really do because, let’s face it, no child dreams of growing up to become a manager at Safeway.

If you’re not allowed more than one then it’s up to then to tell you that you can only use one. duh

The manager was speaking of an LP (limit placed) on the store, not because of anything fraudulent that you did. If the cashier takes more than the allotted amount of coupons, the burden is on her or him. You did NOT break a law! You paid for an item with a legitimate coupon, period! The trouble with the law comes with fraudulent coupons, you did not do that. Nothing to worry about. Believe me, at the end of the day, they want to sell all they can. Enjoy your product.
