If the cashier takes more than the allotted amount of coupons, the burden is on her or him. You did NOT break a law! You paid for an item with a legitimate coupon, period! The trouble with the law comes with fraudulent coupons, you did not do that. Nothing to worry about. Believe me, at the end of the day, they want to sell all they can. Enjoy your product. Store managers tend to like to act like they have more power than they really do because, let's face it, no child dreams of growing up to become a manager at Safeway. If they fail to enforce a provision of the agreement, then it's their fault. They are the gatekeepers of that provision, not you. If they wanted to sue you for breach of contract, they could (They never would), but they would loose and it would not be worth it.
